Alpaca Fiesta 2024:
Celebrando la excelencia de la fibra de alpaca en Arequipa
From October 21 to 26, the city of Arequipa hosted Alpaca Fiesta 2024, the world’s most important event for the alpaca textile industry. In this edition, the event’s president, our CEO Jessica Rodríguez, led a celebration that brought together key players from across the industry, promoting sustainable development and the international recognition of alpaca fiber within the global textile market.
One of the highlights of Alpaca Fiesta 2024 was the series of visits to different companies in the sector, where attendees had the opportunity to experience firsthand the production process behind alpaca garments. Among these visits, Art Atlasproudly welcomed participants to its facilities, showcasing the entire production process — from specialized machinery and advanced knitting techniques to the meticulous handcrafted work that allows the creation of export-quality garments meeting the highest standards.
The event was supported by PROMPERÚ, the International Alpaca Association, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism of Peru, and the Alpaca Fiesta organization, all of whom contributed to the success of this edition. One of the most moving experiences was the Chaccu, an ancestral ceremony that allowed us to witness the gathering and sustainable shearing of alpacas alongside Andean communities. This tradition not only ensures animal welfare, but also strengthens the connection with nature and preserves the ancestral culture of the Andes.
Without a doubt, Alpaca Fiesta 2024 reaffirmed the importance of alpaca fiber as an invaluable resource within the textile industry, further strengthening its recognition on a global scale. We look forward to the next edition as we continue celebrating the excellence of South American camelids.
